Welcome back to our English space. May is going to be an opportunity to approach to the written language. In fact, one of the hardest tasks, even in our mother tongue don´t you think ? You might think it is easy peasy, but honestly for me it has always been the most challenging skill and still it is. Not only because the grammar problems, the lack of vocabulary, the accuracy when choosing the style or the ages it takes me to write a decent piece of work, but also because you need to know what you want to say.

As it is the first time we are going to deal with it I just one you to give some advices and ideas about how to improve it. So let´s get started!

First, it is the fact that to become a good writer you need to know what you want to say (it could be a personal email, a letter of presentation or a story) in that sense you need a good range of vocabulary. You could have tried Duolingo already and you may have learnt some of it, but face the reality it will not be enough if you want to write an essay for your teacher. In 9 MAYO 2018 2this sense, an excellent way to gain vocabulary, ideas and some stylistics will be reading. We encouraged you to pick this excellent habit a few months back and we are keen on reminding you to keep on going.

Another good idea is to improve your spelling and grammar. However, if you lack of time next time you are going to handle something to your teacher nowadays it is quite easy to write something and get an idea if your piece of work is good enough. It can be as simple as running the spelling and grammar checker in your files (office and open source programs include it, so use it!)

My final advice is that you just do it. It might be a dreadful experience the very first time you face a white sheet, scary even, but it is practice what makes perfection. Use a draft paper and do a brainstorming about the topic you want to write. A problem that might arise is that you are not comfortable about your own ideas (you do not know enough about the topic, have no opinion or prefer to get it to your own.) My advice is that you read something related to the topic and once you have chewed and spitted those facts then you will be ready to think out of the box. Try to write something, leave for a while and read it again afterwards. You can also ask someone to give you a hand. Someone who can give you some hints as if the main idea is clear enough or if there is any noticeable mistakes. Then you will be ready to change whatever needed.

Hope all of this information is useful and you enjoy it. We expect any comments from you, ideas about topics you want we deal with or any question that arises. See you!
